In this course, you will be exposed to the disruptive technologies that are shaping tomorrow’s world while you gain a practical understanding of the basics of funding that are essential in leveraging emerging business opportunities. You will explore various examples of investment opportunities in Israeli startups as you deepen your knowledge of key concepts and the basic structures of venture-backed deals – from the perspectives of founders, for the benefit of investors. This course is offered in collaboration with OurCrowd and Israel Beyond the Headlines as part of the InnovNation Program and OC university.

Through a wide array of guest lectures and behind-the-scenes visits to cutting-edge research institutes, high tech companies, and financial centers/venture capital firms in Israel’s entrepreneurial ecosystem and high-tech industry, participants will meet face-to-face with seasoned angel and venture capital investors, groundbreaking scientists and thinkers, R&D staff, founders and executives from disruptive Hi-Tech Companies and prominent industry and technology experts.
Course Components
- Meet with successful professionals in the Israeli high tech and finance sectors.
- Work in teams to create a term sheet negotiation that is appropriate for a given company stage/industry/vertical, based on tools and methods learned in class.
- Complete assigned readings on the impact of technology on our world as well as basics of finance and investing.
- Partake in lectures, talks and workshops with leading thinkers, scientists and entrepreneurs.
You’ll be invited to participate in a wide array of trips, tours, and activities offered by the Office of Student Life. From a tour of the Old City to a trip to the Dead Sea to checking out the local festivals, you’ll build your own unique impressions and memories of Jerusalem and Israel. While residing in HebrewU dormitories with other international and Israeli students, you’ll have a chance to form new friendships and get involved in campus life. A team of multilingual Israeli students, called madrichim, is also there to help you adjust to your new surroundings and give you tips on things to do. Learn more about student life at HebrewU.

This course is open to undergraduate and graduate students, as well as mature learners who have completed at least one year of study at an accredited institution of higher education in the areas of Business, NPO Management, Economics, Natural & Applied Sciences, Engineering, and Entrepreneurship. Professionals and Entrepreneurs are also welcome to apply. English language fluency is required.
