Institute for Education in International Media: The Jerusalem Project

Highlights

  • Train to work as a foreign correspondent.
  • Report on Israeli and Palestinian culture and society.
  • File stories for online publication in The Jerusalem Project.
  • Practice identifying strong stories, conducting news interviews, and crafting a narrative.

The Rothberg International School at Hebrew University works with the Institute for Education in International Media (ieiMedia) to offer you a unique journalism study abroad course that will help prepare you for the complex demands of twenty-first century global journalism. Get an introduction to the skills and tools of international reporting using both academic study and real-world in-country experience. You’ll learn from a team of veteran journalists who have covered the Middle East for years, including longtime NPR Jerusalem correspondent Linda Gradstein and former Christian Science Monitor reporter Ilene Prusher.

Go beyond the headlines and get the real story on Israel in this hands-on, four-week international reporting program in Jerusalem, one of the most vibrant and diverse cities in the world. You’ll learn how to develop sources, conduct interviews, and work with an interpreter, then use these skills to report on the city. Your finished work will be published on a professional-quality website. See the ieiMedia page for more details.

A team of multilingual Israeli students, called madrichim, is also there to help you adjust to your new surroundings and give you tips on things to do. Learn more about student life at HebrewU.
