Additional Sources of Funding for American Students:
External Grants & Scholarships

There is an incredible amount of funding available to support your study abroad in Israel, but the trick is knowing where and how to find it! The following is a comprehensive list of alternative sources from which our students have been known to benefit in the past. This is not Rothberg International School (RIS) funding. Reach out to the sources that you deem relevant, and explore opportunities that may help lighten your financial load. Best of luck!

  • American Jewish League for Israel – For students attending a full academic year program for credit
  • Masa Israel – If eligible, automatic award of a US$ 1,000 grant; needs-based scholarships also available
  • Helyn B. Reich Memorial Scholarship – The scholarship seeks to recognize candidates who have demonstrated academic excellence, pro-Israel activity in their personal lives and show a commitment to future involvement with the Jewish and Zionist community. Preference is given to candidates who decide to spend the full year in Israel.
  • Hilda Specter Morgenstern Merit Scholarship – Awarded annually to an American woman who will study in Israel during her undergraduate education, identifies as Jewish, has a 3.5 GPA or higher, and demonstrates strong interest in public advocacy, public policy, or government affairs.
  • David L. Zemsky z’l Scholarship – For RIS students who live or go to school in the Chicago Metro area; contact us for more information
  • Haas/Koshland Memorial Award – For undergraduate students from the San Francisco Bay Area
  • Harold Grinspoon Foundation – For residents of western Massachusetts (Hampshire, Hampden, Franklin, and Berkshire Counties) and southern Vermont
