General Hebrew Placement Exam

The general placement exam is designed to evaluate your Hebrew language proficiency. It is an online multiple-choice test. We will use your results to place you in the appropriate class according to your level. If you are a new candidate for a program at Hebrew University’s Rothberg International School (RIS), you must take this exam. Without it, we cannot reserve a place for you.

You will take the general placement exam online.

  • Please read the instructions carefully before taking the exam.
  • The purpose of this exam is to ensure you are placed at the right level so be sure to complete the exam on your own.
  • Do not use a dictionary.
  • Do not guess, because the purpose of this exam is to ensure you are placed at the right level.
  • You will need your student ID number and password, which you will have received by applying online through RIS.

Note: If you are applying for degree studies through the Office of Overseas Students Admissions, you must wait to receive a letter with your ID number and password in order to take the exam. Learn about the writing placement exam.
