Meet Our Faculty

Prof. Michal Frenkel
I have taught in the RIS graduate program for the last two years. As Jerusalem constitutes a microcosm of Israeli society and its internal conflicts, I have found that my students, who live in this city and are exposed to both its beauty and its hardship, develop a richer and more complex understanding of Israeli society and can bring this complexity into their academic analysis of the different aspects of Israel.

My name is Raviv Schwartz and I've been teaching in the Community Leadership and Philanthropy Studies (CLPS) program since its inception. The courses I teach tend to focus on the more conceptual aspects of the nonprofit enterprise. One is a "primer" of sorts on the 3rd Sector and Civil Society in Israel and globally; another is a course on "Philanthropy" and a third addresses the thorny issue of governance in nonprofits, with an emphasis on the work of nonprofit boards. I've enjoyed all of these classes tremendously, for they have allowed for a considerable degree of class discussion (drawing on the professional and volunteer experience of the students) and, as such, have differed significantly from year to year
