Admission Requirements- Division of Undergraduate Studies

Admission Requirements for all First-Year University Students (Freshmen)

 

Applications are welcome from students holding a high school diploma with a B average or its equivalent.

Students coming for one semester only should hold a high school diploma with a B+ average or its equivalent.

A letter of parental consent is required of applicants under the age of 18.

Admission Requirements for Undergraduate Study Abroad Program 

 

Students who have completed at least 28 semester credits from an accredited college or university with a 3.0 (B) cumulative GPA or its equivalent are eligible to apply.

 

"Spring in Jerusalem" Program –Special Admission Requirements

 

Third- and fourth-year university students with a minimum Grade Point Average (GPA) of 3.5 or its equivalent are eligible to apply. Consideration will be given to students with a lower GPA if special circumstances are warranted.

 

Applications to the program will be jointly reviewed by the Hebrew University of Jerusalem’s Rothberg International School and Harvard University. (Please note that this program is not the USAP spring semester.)

 

DanceJerusalem / Jerusalem Sounds/ ArtJerusalem –Special Admission Requirements

 

Students in their first, second or third year of university study may audition.

 

Applications will be jointly reviewed by the Hebrew University of Jerusalem’s Rothberg International School and the Jerusalem Academy of Music and Dance (for DanceJerusalem and Jerusalem Sounds) and Bezalel (for ArtJerusalem).

 

Film Jerusalem- Special Admission Requirements
 

Juniors and Seniors (third and fourth year students) majoring in Film with a Grade Point Average (GPA) of 3.0 and above (or its equivalent) are eligible to apply. Graduate students are also eligible. Applicants will be required to submit a portfolio, and applications will be jointly reviewed by the RIS and the Sam Spiegel School. 


1. Pre-requisites
a. One of the following courses: Introduction to Film Making or Cinematography or Film Editing
and
 

b. Basic Course in Journalism or Scriptwriting 

  

2. Additional Admission Materials 

a.    Choose an event (public or personal) that affected your life and write it as a story of up to 2 pages. 

b.    Milan Kundera said that "our biography is not only what we did, but what we would have wanted to and didn't do".  Write a story of up to 2 pages of something or things you wanted to do but did not. 

c.     A previous work from your film studies. This should be sent electronically as a preview-copy in reduced size. Any popular format is acceptable. Please do not send DVDs or large “top quality” files. 

d.    A Skype interview will be scheduled once the application materials have been submitted. 

e.    Note: the CV should reflect experience in film. 

f.     Note: the transcript of grades should reflect all film studies 

 

TOEFL

 

Mandatory for candidates from non-English-speaking countries and/or candidates who did not previously study at an institution of higher education where the language of instruction is English.

 

Candidates must achieve a minimum TOEFL score of:

  • 550 on the paper-based test or 
  • 213 on the computer-based test or
  • 80 on the Internet-based test

The school code for the TOEFL is 0206.

 

Equivalent Cambridge or IELTS scores are also acceptable.
