- The application process begins January 1.
- Requests are accepted until June 30.

Application Fee
The non-refundable application fee of US$ 120 for non-Israeli citizens and NIS 430 for Israeli citizens may be paid by:
- Credit card (MasterCard or VISA) during the online application process. Please note that there is a 1.9% convenience fee on all credit card payments.
- Cash (in person)
- Traveler’s check or money order payable to The Hebrew University of Jerusalem. Personal checks are not accepted.

The transfer should include your name and requested program. You must bring a copy of this transaction to financial registration in Jerusalem.

Application Guidelines
- You must submit all required supplementary application materials as outlined below. If you cannot provide all of the required documents by the deadline, you are advised to submit an incomplete application with a letter listing the missing documents and when you will submit them.
- The admissions team can only finalize decisions after receiving all required documents.
- We will send all correspondence to the “permanent mailing address” that you provided on the application form. You must notify the office of any change of address or personal information.
- We cannot return supplementary documents or transfer them to any other institutions.
Supplementary Application Materials
To be submitted with the online application or separately:
- Passport-sized photo uploaded to your online application
- Israeli identity card (if applicable) in the form of a photocopy or scan of the inside page
- Passport in the form of aphotocopy or scan of the inside page
- Personal background statement
To be submitted separately from the online application:
- Hebrew placement exam designed to assess your Hebrew knowledge and used to place you in the appropriate class according to your proficiency level. After you submit the online application, you will receive the student number and personal code necessary to take the exam. If you are a complete beginner, you are advised to use the Aleph-Bet Click courseware on our website to study the Hebrew Alphabet before you begin the course.
- Medical form (downloaded during application process) completed and signed by your physician.
- Amirim / Toefl / IELTS / SAT grades (for those who did not study at a high school where the language of instruction is English).
- Academic transcript (one of the three types below)
- High school diploma or certificate granting eligibility for admission to university studies in your country of origin
- Original or notarized official high school transcripts must be sent directly from the relevant school or sent in a sealed envelope. Faxes are not accepted.
- If you have taken any university or college courses, you must submit official transcripts for those courses as well.
- Applying to the program before high school graduation? Submit a record of study (transcript) and a letter from your school stating your expected date of graduation.
- Official GED transcript demonstrating your completion of the program
- Send your GED transcript.
- Also include all transcripts of previous studies. We consider applications on an individual basis.
- Homeschool transcript of program of study
- Include the transcript of your program of homeschool study.
- Also include either a high school diploma from an accredited school (from your state’s Board of Education) or a GED.
- Note: If the name on your academic records differs from the name on your application form, please submit official documentation authenticating the name change. Documents can be verified by mail or by bringing the original and a photocopy to the Mechina Program office.
- High school diploma or certificate granting eligibility for admission to university studies in your country of origin
- Letter of parental consent should be submitted if you are under 18 years of age at the time of your application.

Formal Acceptance
The only evidence of acceptance to the Mechina Program is an official letter issued by HebrewU’s Rothberg International School. If you receive a conditional acceptance letter, you will only be permitted to complete financial registration and enroll in study programs after you receive a letter confirming that you have satisfied the conditions, as follows:
- Completion of current studies
- Fulfillment of language requirement(s) (Hebrew, English)
- Presentation of official documents
Acceptance letters are valid only for the year issued. Deferred admission is not possible, and candidates must reapply each year.
