Professor Guy Harpaz

Guy Harpaz is a professor of Law and International Relations at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem, in addition to serving as the University’s Vice President for International Affairs and the Provost of the Rothberg International School. He also holds the position of Chairperson of Reut ve-Reut, a charitable trust assisting the blind.

Harpaz was awarded an LL.B. (First Class Honors) from the University of Leeds, and completed one year as an exchange student at K.U. Leuven. He was awarded an LL.M. and a Ph.D. from the University of Cambridge, the former with First Class Honors from Wolfson College, the latter from St John’s College.

He holds the Arnold Brecht Chair in European Law. His scholarship deals with the interface between Law, International Relations, and International Trade. His research fields include EU Law, EU-Israel relations, and Public International Law. He has published numerous articles in leading journals, including the Review of International Studies, European Foreign Affairs Review, Journal of Common Market Studies, European Law Review, Common Market Law Review, and Cambridge Law Journal.

Harpaz has served in numerous positions at the Hebrew University, including Dean of Students, Head of the Academic Committee of the European Forum, President of the Israeli Association for the Study of European Integration, Head of the M.A. Degree in International Development (Glocal), Vice Dean of the Law Faculty, Director of both the international LL.M. degree and student exchange programs at the Law Faculty, and the University students’ ombudsman.Before joining academia, Harpaz clerked at the Supreme Court and served as a legal adviser at the Prime Minister’s Office.
