Euro-Med Studies: European and Middle East Studies

In this special semester program, students will deepen their knowledge in the field of European studies and will explore the connections between Europe, Israel and the Middle East.  The program provides tools for understanding the relations between the two regions from a comprehensive, interdisciplinary perspective, including religious issues, cultural contacts, mutual commerce and trade, current literary trends, political participation of minorities, and social inclusion and exclusion.  


Course of Study 


Students participate in courses offered by the European Forum at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem.  

Students may opt to choose up to two courses at the Rothberg International School and as well as a Modern Hebrew language course or an Arabic language course. Students who fulfill the RIS English language admission requirement may take up to three courses taught in English at the RIS Division of Graduate Studies.

Admission Requirements and Application 


Applicants should state in their application that they wish to apply for the Euro-Med Studies program. 


Qualified students with a Bachelor's degree from accredited institutions of higher education are eligible for admission to the program. Admission is competitive and is based on transcripts and letters of recommendation. Students must have a minimum of 3.2 ("B") grade-point average.


English Language Requirement: Candidates who did not previously study at an educational institution where the sole language of instruction is English must submit official TOEFL scores or the equivalent. The minimum TOEFL score required is 573 on the paper-based test, 230 on the computer-based test, or 89 on the internet-based test, .
